UNPLUG. FIND BALANCE.
"Compared with exercising indoors, exercising in natural environments is associated with feelings of revitalisation...decreases in tension, confusion, anger, depression and increased energy"
- Thompson Coon, J. et al
WHEN WE TALK AND SHARE OUR STORIES, WE FEEL HEARD AND SEEN. AT A TIME OF PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL CHANGE, A YOUNG PERSON CAN FEEL UNSURE ABOUT THEIR PLACE AND WAY IN THE WORLD; EVEN MORE SO IN THE AGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND ITS POTENTIAL NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON THEIR MENTAL HEALTH.
‘Permission Sessions’ provide a safe, confidential opportunity for a young person to talk and explore issues or challenges that may be affecting them, with the aim of improving their holistic wellbeing. They are given permission to express themselves in a way that feels true to who they are, free of judgement or expectation, often incorporating types of movement - whether that be walking or more functional movements - time spent in nature, or exploring the art of creative self-expression. At their core, these sessions are unique and crafted by the voice and interests of the young person, taking place in a location that makes them feel safe, relaxed, and inspired. Sessions are developed in conversation with the parent / guardian where appropriate, and may take place in the family home, the countryside, a park, gym, etc.
The young person's safety is always paramount. Prior to working with a young person I provide evidence of a current DBS check, and a copy of my 'Safeguarding Policy'. PLEASE NOTE: These sessions are in no way considered counselling or treatment. They are informed by lived experience of mental health and wellness practices, complemented by ongoing relevant continued professional development, and qualifications and accreditations in movement practice, nature practice, and the creative arts.
Suitable for ages 16 - 18 yrs
