Throughout a successful career, as both an academic and senior leader in both corporate and voluntary sectors, I regularly experienced intense periods of depression and suicidal ideation, that resulted in substance abuse, self-harm, and multiple attempts to take my own life.

Almost a decade ago I finally received the diagnosis of Bipolar (type II). This led me to reflect and dedicate real time and energy towards understanding what changes I could make to my lifestyle, to become happier, healthier and well, without a reliance upon medication. Today I use my story and experience to encourage others to learn how nature, movement, and nutrition can be truly transformative; inspiring others to recognise how simple lifestyle changes can have a significant impact upon their wellness, and indeed to share their own story.

Harnessing the best of my “lived experience” I work with people aged 16+, of any background and ability, passionately advocating for being inquisitive and embracing a journey of self-directed learning; how crafting time and space to move, reflect, and find fascination in the world around us, can inspire growth, resilience, and even open up pathways to heal.

Nature is accessible to everyone, which is why I believe in making the sessions I offer similarly accessible and - perhaps more importantly - affordable to all. The work that I do is founded upon being as inclusive as possible, advocating for the rights of all marginalised groups and individuals; recognising that we all have an interesting story to tell, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, experience or background.

It is the responsibility of everyone - within and beyond the health and wellness industry - to promote an acceptance of the diversity of body image, and the breaking down of enduring taboos surrounding mental health.
